Job Description

Established in 1986, Anchor Hospital specializes in the treatment of behavioral health and addictive disease disorders for teens, adults and seniors. Our  mental health facility in Atlanta, Georgia is located on a secluded, 55-acre campus, less than three miles from Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport and is accredited by the Joint Commission.

To assist the professional nurse in performing direct and indirect nursing activities to patients of various adult age groups. Provides for the general comfort, safety and well-being of the patients and supports the general functions of the nursing units.

1. Unit Safety Checks/Patient Observation Checks
2. Adult Bed Bath/showers
3. Adult Bed Shampoo
4. Assist patient with ADLs, ambulation: turning, positioning in bed, feeding, grooming, toileting
5. Assist pt. w/Bed Pan, bedside commode, up to BR
6. Backrubs
7. Quality Control Checks on glucometers, refrigerator temps
8. Perform finger stick glucometer testing as ordered
9. Recording Intake & Output (I&O) (OB)
10. Transporting patients by wheelchair, stretcher, or bed
11. Urine specimen collection
12. Vital Signs
13. Weighting Patients on Upright scale
14. Maintain all competencies
15. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or GED equivalent
• Completion of nursing assistant course (or comparable certification); OR
• Good verbal communication skills

1. Physical Requirements: Must be physically able to operate a variety of equipment, machines and tools. Must be able to use body members to work, move or carry objects or materials. Must be able to exert up to forty (40) pounds of force occasionally and/or up to twenty (20) pounds frequently. Must be able to lift and/or carry weights of 100 to 150 pounds with assistance. Physical demand requirements are at levels of those for physically active work

1. Mental Requirements: Able to concentrate on fine detail with constant interruptions; able to understand and relate to the theories behind several related concepts continuously; able to remember multiple tasks/assignments; some occasional stress due to workload pressures.

1. Environmental Demands: Physical surroundings are pleasant and comfortable but there is a risk of possible exposure to injury or other hazards.

1. Interpersonal Communication : Requires the ability of speaking and/or signaling people to convey or exchange information. Includes giving assignments and/or directions to co-workers or assistants.
